This is 'Boots'.
She is our resident dominant hen. That means she acts like the rooster...Yes, she has her morning call that sounds absolutely nothing like a roosters call.
It's actually quite ugly and makes my skin crawl a bit. The neighbors dogs bark, I heard one person walking and say 'what the hell?' in a rather startled voice.
I'm fascinated with my little flock and they each have their own distinct personalities. The rooster 'Rico' likes his all white hen 'Frosty' and shows her where to find food. The two remaining 'Brownies' are inseparable and one of them has a chronic sneezing problem. Sounds like a dud fire work, just a little fizzle. Odd, but cute.
Hopefully they are here to stay.
No luck on trapping the fox yet.

First day of school 2012.
Second, second and first grade!! Wow where has the time gone. They were up at six and were sitting at the table with backpacks ready at 7:15am. They all had an amazing day and came home with smiles and excitement about their new teachers. It's going to be a great year for the three of them. They also went to bed no questions asked at 7:30pm!!!
Today, is day two and they were up and ready early.
However...the mornings have been cool and our hoodies don't quite fit these growing girls. I put out the question: 'What color hoodie do you want?'
Ray, who is ALL about clothes as of late said, 'lime green or zebra'
Check out this find!!!
She is either going to love it or hate it...I bought a second one for backup just in case.
I'll keep you posted.:)

Time to speak up and start taking some steps forward!!

It's been a busy summer, full of hearts and flowers, some great converstation and some not so great conversations that shed some tears.
But we keep moving forward, trying make this day better than the last.
Cherish the small moments of joy and happiness.

Chicken Saga

.... And then there were Five. Did I talk to much about them the last couple of days and jinx myself. Got home late last night after running a gauntlet of errands after an 8 hour workshop in Maine, searching through the woods for the remains of two of my hens....I was txt'd that two were 'missing'. Well with the amount of feathers I did find and the parts that I knew were her wings, they are gone. We secured the coop and the cover and someone they got out, or something got IN and pulled them out. The trap is set again and we shall see. This time it happened during the day. So upon a little research it could be a sly fox, neighbors cat...in these woods heck it just might be Sasquatch! So here is the only 'I spy' picture i have. the large tan hen in the front is one of the missing and the little red one behind her in the brush is definitely gone. The Chicken Saga continues....

Mother's Day at The Beach
Beautiful perfect day.

Roller Derby Girls

Edie and Sophia have graduated from Kindergarten, and move on to be big first graders!. All three in full time school next year.

Our Edie has turned 6. Can you believe it 6!! Where does the time go?
There have been some changes since my last post in MARCH!!! I've started a new job with the same company. Change in job title at a bigger volume store. It's been a challenging transition, that keeps transitioning. Let's just say I have a lot of time in the car the think about all the things I could be getting done. I'll keep you posted ;)

Merry Christmas!!

Lots of Santa questions this year. We made sure to keep it magical and light, keep the Christmas mystery and spirit alive...
but NO, Elf on a Shelf.

Edie and her 'magic reindeer-food skip dance'. We laughed all the way home and more so when we downloaded the pictures. She has such a contagious energy, always laughing and smiling. She is the happiest kid in the world, she just has a lot of opinions now. :)

A

That was my final grade for my art class I took at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.

I loved it, it took up most of my free time and I learned a lot about the basics of art, and how to talk about a piece, or my piece of work.

I took the class because I need it a pre- requisite for some photography classes I want to get my CE certificate in.

Taking a class and working on all the commitments of retail in fourth quarter was a heavy undertaking.

It was worth it.

I learned a lot about myself and my work.

With everything I did learn and explore I've taken quite a liking to painting.

Still photography is my love,

painting is my escape.

Happy Birthday Aubrey and Reagan!!!

Seven years ago today, we were blessed with our baby girls.

Me and my girls.

Daddy made them bunk beds for a birthday surprise, they went most of the week thinking he was making a chicken coop. Little did they know it was their coop he was making.

Edie wanted 'in' on that and moved into their room. Now ALL three are in one room, and Edie doesn't know how good she had it having her own room. Give it a few years and they'll be fighting tooth and claw for the 'single'. For now it's the 'dressing' room. three dressers and all the goods.

Then...

and now...

Halloween brought us 20+ inches of snow, leaves still on the trees, and NO loss of power!!

We made it through and trick or treated a week later.

It's now February and it hasn't snowed since! We've have a mild winter.
