A Day At The Beach

Wow! They are at a great age.
Edie wasted no time going up to a group of girls building a sandcastle and said.
'Hi I'm Edie, want to be my friend?'
The girls took her and her sisters by the hands and they built a great castle, hunted for snails and jumped waves. We went on a long walk and found crabs, starfish, a giant clam and other goodies.
Here is what made it great. We left our house at 7:20 am and picked Grammy up at the park and ride in Concord. We left Concord at 8:00am and made it to the beach by 9:00am. By 10:00am the parking lot was packed and beach goers were snaked around the parking lot waiting for spots. We stayed until...2:00pm!!! For the first time we spent more time at the beach rather than trucking back and forth!!
We are determined to go again, and again, and again.

A Fish Tale

Daddy is getting ready for his annual fishing/camping 'guys' weekend. He is gathering, collecting, fixing and preparing all the necessities. I guess 5 fishing poles should get the job done. He was telling stories to this captive crown of eager listeners, it was about his last trip when he caught a really big fish and the line kept snapping, and he had to chase the bobber as it swam away only to catch it again and the line snap AGAIN!. I think he'll be prepared this time.

Reagan Lost A Tooth!!

It came out last week.
I took all three girls to the dentist on Thursday of last week.
ZERO cavities! Whoo hoo!
They did great, and thought all the tools, doctors, and hygienists were great.
No tears, no fears, just a great experience.
Grammy's custom made clip on earings.

First Cast

We had a date night the night before. Took the girls to a much talked about and promised trip to ihop (which was a 40 minute wait with about 20 other families of 5 or more) What a zoo! We couldn't even really talk above the noise. We ate, they loved it of course. Checked off the list of 'summer fun' and call the experience complete. Then, we were off for an afternoon of fishing at the lake house.
Her face says so much!!
Aubrey's first worm, first cast, first catch of the season!! She's got 'it'. 'It' took a little longer for the rest of us to catch something.
First trip and she can put her own worms on and cast beautifully! It's amazing how much they have grown since last spring. Removing or even touching the fish is another story!
Edie and Ray like to touch them and hold them by the lower lip and toss them back in.

Sweet little Edie's first catch!

Reagan stayed out there all afternoon, and 5 min before we left during pack up she caught a sun fish! It was a fishing tri-fecta!!

Everyone was happy! (Phew!!)

Date Night

What a handsome date I had!
Good friends, good food, good laughs.

Happy 9 Year Anniversary

This year's anniversary could not and SHOULD not be topped. After painting the outside our house for the last two weeks and almost completing this task....
we woke early today to find the automatic ice maker water line had leaked and flooded our hard wood floors in the kitchen, and had been leaking for some time, slowly seeping through the floor and down the basement walls, the leak area was behind lots and lots of plastic totes, so we would not of seen it, and did not see it until it was to late.
We spent the day with the wet vac, every fan on in the house.
My dining room rug was out on the driveway to dry. Some of the items we kept on the TOP shelves of the basement storage area were NOT in plastic bins. Only three boxes and ironically one them was our wedding glasses, after crying about the disaster, this did make me smile. They survived the last nine years what a great day to find them, let's use them! I washed and dried them hoping to have a toast at dinner, I went about the rest of the day cleaning, drying, mopping... only to find later that one glass had been broken during the day! The stem had been broken off of it at some point...after a mild interrogation, no one fessed up, so that one will remain a mystery. I think I need a finger print kit for situations like this.
It's a day later, we had Aubrey take our picture again, she does such a great job, she is our official anniversary picture taker. She took the one in the margin of the blog!
The drying continues, I'm going through EVERYTHING tote by tote. The water dripped down through the ceiling, onto the totes cascading down them. They were stacked so close and high it soaked everywhere and everything. Some toes had cracked lids, I never worried about water coming DOWN on them so it was no big deal, it was the water level coming up that had always been an issue.
Insurance guy comes on Tuesday, until then I'll try to get it as dry as possible and keep going through the totes. I did want to go through them and thin stuff out, just not on our anniversary, or a holiday weekend. back to work for me!

Painting....

Before
After

Man, what a project! Now we notice every little imperfection. Two weeks ago we REALLY realized how bad it needed paint.

We had a few color choices picked out, but once we got to the store, we went our separate ways and came back to each other with the SAME color choice, that was nothing like what we originally going with.
Not sure if I want to put the shutters back on, what do you think?

Turn your volume down, unless you like Laurie Berkner :)

I found this 'pod' chrysalis in March when we were doing some yard work, Reagan and I scooped it up and put it in our 'bug jar'.

It's grown, wormed, squirmed and rocked out to Laurie Berkner.

Last night she emerged.

I thought it would be a Luna moth, but it's a Sphinx Moth, I'm not sure if this species has a mouth. I've read some do and some don't. I hope she makes it through the day which she'll remain dormant for. I guess the sun turn a 'switch' off and they are motionless during the sunlight. It'll be interesting to see if she starts to stir tonight, if so I'll let her go. That was a fun experiment and the girls enjoyed it, creepy but fun!

My Girls

You Can ALWAYS Count On Your Sister

Where Does The Time Go?

21 months
5 years old

Can a 4th Birthday get any better than sun, pool, ice cream cone, and a juice?

'I be just like you mama....'

Edie tells me all the time when she grows up she wants to be just like me. I gave her a vacuum, and a pretend play coffeepot just like mine. We vacuumed together and made coffee together Sunday morning.
Auntie gave her an ironing board, and iron.
AJ made her an apron (that is she ironing).
She had been playing with these non stop!

Happy 4th Birthday Edie!!

Daddy created a beautiful home made cake!

She got shy when we sang.

We ALL helped her blow out her candles!

Prelude To An Edie Sneeze

If you see either of these faces, get a tissue ready!

Looking Ahead

Edie LOVES the middle.
Daddy brings her to school in the morning. The twins and I pick her up at 11:15am.

The girls sandwich her between the two of them. The three of them hold hands as we walk back to the car. Then the rapid fire begins. Each sister taking a turn asking Edie about her day. Who was there? Who was NOT there? Which teachers where there? Which teacher was NOT there? What was for snack? What was for drink? Was it anyones birthday? Did you play outside? Did you do arts and crafts? What was your job?...The list goes on and on. We get home and the twins RUN to the playground and Edie comes inside with me to start lunch. She usually asks me if she can lay on the couch and watch a show which means she needs a few minutes to regroup from a busy day at school and then her rapid fire interrogation on the ride home.
Next year should be interesting.
I'm sure it will be like riding home with a truck full of chickens clucking away.

Edie will be in the 4 year old program next year.
We go for her annual IEP review on May 28th. She is doing great and is still working on her Speech and Language Development.

Progress reports came home at the begining of the month and she has progressed from 'developing' on her new skills to 'secure', in just 4 months!

She continues to amaze and charm us with her speech development. Next quarter they are working on /l, s/, and I'm sure this will really start to fine tune her speech.

We've been working on the a few things daily.

Milk is mick.
Drink is wink.
Straw is swa.

We have her watch how our mouth makes the word and we have her repeat it. She tries so hard and we've come a long way from her 'eh-eh', which was her only word for EVERYTHING!

I've been trying to get her to do the /r/ in Reagan, and Aubrey, she says it with a /w/ Way-gan and Aub- wee. It's still a long way from Adooo and Lala that she affectionatly referred to them as less than a year ago!Aubrey and Reagan are registered for Kindergarten! They go June 4th for thier assesments. It looks like all three kids will be in the afternooon program.
All three at one school, at the same time!

Here are some milestones!

Let's Talk About It

I'd love to know what they were trying to figure out.
