Open House(s)

The last two nights were spent at the girls school. Each teacher opened their classroom up to us, and invited us in for a lesson on what each child's day is like.
I found each child was paired with a great teacher.
Aubrey has only14 students in her class. Reagan has 17, and Edie has 22.
All the teachers were very excited about having a smaller class, and being able to take the time with students in smaller groups based on needs and the level of those needs.
My heart soared when he spoke about the level of readers in his class. Books are labeled A-O (o being the more difficult for a second grader to read) Aubrey has the OK to borrow books A-L.
This week she shined. He has been reading a story to them this week. Dolphins at Daybreak. A friend of mine at work gave me about twelve of these Magic Tree House Books over the summer. They LOVE chapter books. Aubrey was frantic to find this book in our home library and read it in bed. She wanted to find out the ending before her teacher read it aloud to the class.
Reagan's teacher is very neat and organized, she has her classroom labeled and Rays desk is right in front, she is quick to raise her hand and answer questions. She commented on the how close in age the girls were as we stood before her and introduced ourselves. Last week they went through 'the people in my family discussion' and Ray said she had an 'older' sister, and a younger sister, making her the only 'middle' child out of all of the children in the classroom. I explained 'middle' by not much. Her teacher was surprised and quite taken back to realize Ray had a twin last night.
Edie's teacher is what Edie needs, calm and cool and take charge. She did not hesitate to tell a loud group of parents right outside her very hot classroom that they 'needed to go somewhere else to be loud'.
I love that I pick them up with smiles, they are having fun and learning. However, by Thursday night everybody is tired and I tread lightly...It's a busy day x 3! Next week homework begins. I'll keep you posted.
