A Special Thank You
I would like to thank you for giving my girls the gift of music. Not one, NOT two, but THREE recorders came home for them the other day.
Music time now has a timer, fifteen minutes to be exact. But here is a 40 second sampling. Music time is also an outside activity now, and the recorders are a 'sometimes' toy.
For 15 minutes twice a day I am blessed by the soothing sounds of their exceptional talent. Here is a brief example of what my listening patience...... I mean pleasure sounds like.
Enjoy...

The Grasshopper
I am so loving this weathervane from Gould Farm in Henniker. I love old barns to begin with and when I took a picture of the 200+ year old barn (new blog title picture). I smiled. Of all the barn pictures throughout New England that I've taken pictures of this is the first Grasshopper. What does a grasshopper symbolize? Luck of course, but also joy, youth and adaptability which I feel surround me daily.

Attention Market Basket Shoppers....
The girls and I tend to create a bit of chaos when we shop. We are a sight to be seen, and it's usually just me biting the bullet, being the kiddy wrangler or the ring master for our adventure into pubic.
Pick your day it's always an adventure!!!
I understand in this day and age, we as a society, are under the microscope,. Someone is waiting for an individual to screw up in public. Please!, let me be the mom that has things under control....
Sometimes it runs smoothly like a well oiled machine. Polite little girls with manners and smiles, obeying their mother's ever command....
I said 'sometimes'!
Other times, it's not so pretty. In those rare cases. I AM the MOM to give minimal warnings and leave a cart full of frozen food in the middle of the isle and escort my screaming child to the car and GO THE
And even other times it's just flat out side splitting hilarious!!!!!
Like today.
I took all three to Market Basket after apple picking.
Edie was seated comfortably in the seat. A twin strategically placed on each side of the 'buggy' (shopping cart).
We entered. All is well.
Those of you that know Reagan know that she does not stop moving or asking questions during the 12 hours of awake time she has during the day. It .....is .....exhausting......
So I was attempting to answer her 1 billionth question of the day. While keeping an eye on Aubrey who was skipping merrily down the isle on the orange squares. At the same time tuning into Edie asking me something at the precise same time.
She (Edie) had already asked for chap stick and I willingly handed over my purse in agreement. I told her to look in my bag and help herself. No one is sick and she could use mine.
Aubrey was wrangled and was spelling out the letters of a sale sign for tortilla chips. I focused my attention on Ray and reassured her there were no 'real' vampires to worry about.l The ones causing her alarm were mere cardboard cutouts just for the stores Halloween decorations.
Edie's tone had finally reached a high that needed to be suppressed and I addressed it.
I tuned into her intonation and heard her ever repetitive question she had been repeating for the last two isles.
While holding 2 tampons above her head like drumsticks, she said
'MAMA, YOU NEED THESE FOR YOU BOO-BOO BUM??'
She had an absolute look of seriousness on her face!
I had an absolute look of horror....and .....yes amusement.
I acknowledge her questions. Surveying the crowd of listening ears and discreetly placing the feminine products back into my bag.
I smiled to the other moms who have obviously been in my position before, and laughed to myself down the frozen foods isle. Bringing more attention to our circus like energy!
'Edie you are something else!' I said to her. Kissing her squarely on the head.
(Of course at this exact time, Reagan asks. .....
'What's so funny Mommy?'
Edie accepting my affectionate kiss of amusement asks.
'What am I mommy? a kitty cat? a puppy, a witch, a.......
Ka Zee Bo
But I get there (to pick Edie up) at 11am so that I'm not behind the lady that takes ALL 3 of her kids out while she waits for her oldest. She unbuckles them, they are tired and hungry and they voice their opinions about it. They flop around screaming and yawing on the side walk like a tiny, hungry school of fish.
She socializes with other moms and tells her over tired, hungry wee ones to 'cut it out' and counts to 3 about 30 times, threatening to take their cookies away!!!!.
C'mon now....obviously 4 kids later...since your waiting for the oldest one and all the little ones call you 'mom', you should have some idea about their eating schedule and that you should pack...SOMETHING!!!
OK, ok enough ranting about that.
Lesson learned.
Do NOT get there late and end up being behind 'that' particular vehicle. To solve that problem get there early, try to be #1 or #5 in line so that #6-#10 have to wait behind the 3 short buses...
Anyone else tired yet and it's only 11:00am. Did I mention our morning routine before we/they are even out the door by 8:20am....
Thankfully Todd does Edie's drop off. She LOVES it, as do I. The twins and I go at a slower pace. We (yes!, as a unit) get her ready. Todd takes her...
She asks EVERY Day.
'Daddy?, You Drop Me Off?'
Then she finds me.
'Mama'?, You pick me up?'
'YES, EDIE!"
So what do we do from 11:15 am to 11:50am?
So far I have discovered we CAN have a picnic at the town gazebo (or affectionately referred to by the kids at the ka-zebo). Or, we can have story time, where I read aloud chapters of Pixie Hollow chapter books in the car (if the weather is inclement...which is pretty much here on out....right ?).
We CAN NOT, go to the Weare Park or Horace Lake. Way too much to try and keep under control!!
....The Speakers...
I'm sure at one time they were 'cool'.
But now they have this 'cool' thing called surround sound. They are a series of these tiny speakers to go with huge TVs!
As our luck may have it we now have one of those that adorns one whole wall of our living room.
The TVs have gotten bigger, but the speakers smaller. It must balance the universe in some weird twisted way.
These speakers however, (the ones shown in the photo) bring absolutely NO balance to anything.
They are cumbersome eyesores, and yes I'm going to use the word.....I hate them!!!!
We got our new TV and these anchors need to be dropped at sea....I know how to mix quickcrete.
But here they are...
